YOU Can Engage Students in Computer Science
December 8 @ 4:30 pm - December 10 @ 6:30 pm PST
4:30 PM to 6:30 PM each day
Demystify CS and learn how to provide opportunities for your students to engage in relevant experiences that prepare them for the world of today. No prior CS expertise required! Everyone can empower students to be computer scientists!
This is a FREE session for all educators. While it will be more geared to 3-8 teachers, it can be applied to any grade and any subject!
- Session 1 – A CS Frame of Mind: What do computer scientists do? How do they think? The answers may surprise you. Learn how to embed computer science practices into your lessons, using an interdisciplinary approach that maximizes instructional minutes and increases student motivation.
- Session 2 – More than Coding: Computer science includes coding, but it is so much more. Explore the 5 concepts of CS – Computing Systems, Data & Analysis, Networks & the Internet, Algorithms & Programming, Impacts of Computing – and experience interdisciplinary lessons within each concept area.
- Session 3 – Remix & Create: Gain access to resources to remix pre-made CS lessons to meet the context of your learners. Work collaboratively to design CS learning experiences your students will remember for years to come.
