Partner Thank You! Synopsys Outreach Foundation

August 1, 2025

It’s not often that the CEO of a giving foundation volunteers to provide a workshop for the program/organization that it funds. Well, that’s exactly what happened at the KCI on Monday, June 23. Lauren Foote, CEO of the, a foundation whose mission is “To ignite interest, nurture potential, and empower all students in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM)”, came to the KCI to present a workshop on environmental literacy by exploring pollution contributions in teachers’ local communities. Focusing on how youth can engage in shaping policy decisions and become empowered to have a positive impact. The foundation has generously supported the KCI’s STEAM Leadership Program for the past three years, and is one of the primary reasons that we are able to offer the program at little to no cost to our participants.

Lauren and Synopsys Outreach’s support in a multitude of ways is the reason why KCI’s STEAM Leadership program has the impact that it does. This year, we have 34 participants in the program from 29 different schools, districts, and organizations from the Bay Area and beyond. The program explores the integration of identity, equity, and hard STEM principles into any subject area. It runs in the summer from June 20 to June 26, along with four additional follow-up days during the 2025-2026 school year. Participants who successfully complete the program will receive 12 Foothill College quarter units (the equivalent of 8 semester units) and a California Certificate of Achievement in STEAM Instructional Leadership.
