Ma Bernadette Salgarino, Ed.D., is the STEAM Assistant Director for the Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) and the California Mathematics Council (CMC) President. She also contributes to the book Antiracist Mathematics Education, Stories of Acknowledgement, Actions, and Accountability. Before joining SCCOE, Ma Bernadette taught AP Calculus AB/BC and AP Statistics, among others, and was a mentor and instructional coach at East Side Union High School District. She is a National Board Certified Teacher – AYA Mathematics, a former member of the Mathematics Curriculum Framework and Evaluation Criteria Committee (2013 & 2023), and an AP Calculus Reader. Her classes were videotaped for NBCT, featuring instructional practices that support all learners in developing and strengthening literacy skills and mathematics understanding. She was awarded the Texas Instruments – STEM Teacher of the Year in 2012 and East Side Union High School District Teacher of the Year in 2013.
