STEAM Leadership Background:

Since its inception, the Krause Center for Innovation (KCI) has been dedicated to enhancing STEM education through the innovative use of educational technology. Initially focusing on how technology can enhance teaching, KCI then introduced two key programs: EMPowered, targeting the application of the Common Core’s eight mathematical practices for grades 4 and 5, and the Faculty Academy for Mathematics Excellence (FAME), aimed at integrating best practices and technology in mathematics for grades 6-10. In 2021, KCI expanded its scope with the launch of the STEAM Leadership Program, adding Art to STEM to foster identity and belonging. This program quickly became KCI’s flagship initiative for diversity, equity, and inclusion, embedding DEI and culturally relevant practices across all STEM subjects.
