Global Maker Day 2021
September 30, 2021
Everyone is a maker!
Global Maker Day is a free global event that is all about the action. This event helps showcase all the wonderment that making is. Making is not confined to a makerspace. Making is not confined to one class. Making is not confined to specific technology. Making does not have any limits. Making opportunities exist all around us. Jaime Donally created Global Maker Day in 2016 for an opportunity to embrace all types of making and to share: Create Locally, Share Globally.
Making can range from creating a found musical instrument, to creating cookies, to creating a prosthetic.
Global Maker Day has always been virtual as a way to include everyone. Participation is possible for remote or in-person classes. The opportunity to connect and share with people beyond our own walls adds a layer of inspiration, innovation, and creativity. This year, Global Maker Day is October 12, 2021 from 9am-5pm EST. The event offers a new, inspiring session every 30 minutes. Students can take part in various open ended maker challenges. Participate in as many or as few as you like. You may even be inspired to create your own maker challenge.
The magic of Global Maker Day is the reminder that we are all makers. This is a day that honors all the different types of makers, a day to tap into your creative side, a day to celebrate wonder, curiosity, and awe. A day to bring out the best of everyone in our schools and communities.
The day is all about celebrating making. Each year, I am amazed by what students create. Excited to see what your students create. Post and view creations at #GlobalMakerDay. You might see a creation that sparks a new idea. Register for the event to receive additional information, access the live stream, and ask presenters questions: https://www.globalmakerday.com/
