The “Curb-Cut” Classroom – Inclusive Learning: Designing UDL Lessons with Accessibility & AI (TK-12)
This 60-minute, interactive professional development session empowers TK-12 educators to proactively design inclusive classrooms using the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework paired with accessible technology and AI tools.
Participants will begin by exploring the “Curb-Cut Effect”—the concept that designing learning experiences for the margins inherently benefits all students. Through hands-on demonstrations, educators will discover how built-in accessibility features (like Immersive Reader and voice typing) reduce barriers to engagement and expression.
The session then introduces an “Inclusive AI Buffet,” highlighting tools like Goblin Tools for executive functioning support and Diffit for instantaneous reading level differentiation.
During the core “Sandbox” workshop, teachers will actively apply these concepts by upgrading an upcoming lesson plan using the showcased tech. Educators will leave the session with a tangible, differentiated resource they can use immediately, and a concrete commitment to implement one inclusive design choice in their classroom next week.

Making Project Based Learning (PBL) engaging and accessible for ALL your students
Step into a workshop designed to turn Project-Based Learning theory into immediate classroom action. We will explore high-engagement design elements—like building authentic tasks, maximizing student choice, and creating real-world audiences—while embedding the vital equity scaffolds your students need.
Key Outcomes:
-
Design with Equity: Master UDL and MLL strategies to eliminate learning barriers and make rigorous content accessible to all.
-
Steal & Modify: Gain access to a rich library of classroom-tested PBL templates and real student work examples.
-
Walk Away Ready: Leave with an actionable toolkit and a curated resource bank to seamlessly launch or refine a project at your school site.

AI with Purpose: Build, Plan, and Create with Gemini and NotebookLM
If you have been wondering how to make AI genuinely helpful in your work, this hands-on workshop will help you move beyond the hype and into practical use. In this session, you will build a custom Gem in Gemini to support your thinking, planning, or one of those teacher tasks that always seems to eat up your energy. You will also use NotebookLM to turn source material into resources you can actually use, while making research, prep, and content creation feel lighter and more doable.
You will not just hear about the tools. You will use them. This session is built around play, experimentation, and real application, with space to connect everything to your own role, classroom, or workflow. The goal is to help you work smarter, think more clearly, and create with more intention without losing what makes your work human and you. You will leave with ideas you can use, something you have already started, and a clearer sense of how these tools can actually support your work.

Sew Forth: Textiles Across the Makerspace
Textiles are moving beyond the sewing machine! Workshop attendees will explore the interactions between fabric and common makerspace equipment such as laser cutters, vinyl cutters, and 3D printers. We will learn basic circuitry to aid in sewable electronics, 3D print on mesh to create flexible armor, engrave labels on the laser cutter, cut fabric and HTV on the Cricut, and sublimate designs onto pouches. Whether you’re an experienced sewist or have never touched needle and thread, this workshop is sure to expand your textile horizons.

Empowering Student Investigators with Desmos Studio
Polypad is a free, dynamic virtual manipulatives platform that transforms how students explore mathematical concepts. This massive “mathematical playground” includes dice, playing cards, tangrams, 3D nets, currency, and random number generators, alongside dynamic number lines, coordinate axes, variable sliders and more! From early elementary discovery to algebra explorations, the platform provides a tactile environment for students to experiment, visualize, and create. This crash course introduces the Polypad platform and demonstrates how to turn traditional paper-based explorations into interactive digital activities. Bring your favorite tasks and leave with an enhanced, student-driven exploration ready for your classroom.

Assessment Renovation Lab: Redesigning Assessment When AI Can Generate the Work
Bring an existing assessment and give it a thoughtful renovation! Using a practical framework, participants will examine what their assessment actually reveals about student learning, run an “AI stress test,” and redesign the task to make student thinking, voice, and judgment more visible. This 3-hour workshop includes plenty of design time as well as opportunities to collaborate with other teachers, get feedback, and leave with a revised assessment you can use in your classroom. We will also explore practical ways to support academic integrity and student learning when students have access to AI outside the classroom.
